Royal School of Music Exams
More than just lessons…
The Associated Boards of the Royal School of Music, London England (ABRSM) is the UK’s largest music education body, one of its largest music publishers and the world’s leading provider of music exams, holding over 650,000 assessments in more than 90 countries every year.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in tri-annual ABRSM Exams in theory and the bi-annual ABRSM performance Exams with an examiner from London, England, though it is not required.
The ABRSM EXAMS are an excellent tool to motivate, promote work ethic, musicianship, self-esteem and confidence, and can lead to College Credit (completion of Grade 5 or above). The goal is to play the material as accurately and musically as possible. After memorizing scales, aural training, and preparing 3 pieces, students are heard by an ABRSM Examiner, who is sent twice a year from London, ENGLAND. Results may take up to 6 weeks to be reported. Students are rated as passing with Distinction or Merit; Pass or Fail and will receive a Certificate of Completion, as well as the Examiner's comment sheet.
In addition to instruction during lessons, Dr.Bondurant offers Theory and Aural Training classes as preparation for the ABRSM Exam.
Practical (instrumental) Exams are offered twice a year, usually November and May. Theory Exams can be undertaken 3 times a year in November, March and June.
The REGISTRATION PERIOD is ONLY August 1-15 and January 1-15. The APPLICANT for the Exam is Dr.Bondurant and students are the Candidates. You must have Dr.Bondurant's teacher ID to complete the registration process.
